Garden design tips Embracing the October Garden Colors

Premier Stone Paving | Raleigh, NC –

As October unfolds, gardens showcase a stunning array of colors. While some plants fade, others burst into bloom, creating a vibrant display. This month highlights the transition of seasons, making it a perfect time to appreciate the beauty of nature. The october garden offers a unique palette that captivates the senses.

Colorful Combinations

In my garden, a mix of pinks, blues, purples, and whites creates a striking contrast against the autumn backdrop. Although many of these hues may not endure throughout the month, their final blooms are worth celebrating. The vibrant oranges of earlier fall are complemented by these softer shades. This combination adds depth and interest to the landscape.

Last Blooms of the Season

Plants like Salvia East Friesland and Verbena bonariensis continue to provide color, even as the season changes. The David Austin Rose, Climbing Gertrude Jekyll, stands out with its rich blooms. Nearby, lavender varieties are also making a comeback, adding to the garden’s charm. The interplay of these flowers creates a delightful scene in the october garden.

Hydrangeas and Roses

Another highlight is the Sceptre’d Isle rose, which is enjoying a second flowering this month. It pairs beautifully with Perovskia and fading Hydrangea arborescens. This combination showcases the resilience of these plants as they adapt to the cooler weather. Their presence enhances the overall aesthetic of the garden.

Grasses and Foxgloves

At the garden’s end, a striking variegated Arundo donax stands tall alongside purple Foxgloves. These plants add texture and height to the landscape, creating visual interest. The variegated Miscanthus complements them, enhancing the garden’s diversity. Together, they form a beautiful backdrop for the vibrant flowers.

Cheerful Cosmos and Petunias

Among the grasses, a cheerful Foxglove seedling blooms, adding a touch of whimsy. Nearby, Cosmos bedding plants have thrived throughout the summer, showcasing their resilience. Their continuous flowering brings joy to the garden as October progresses. Additionally, purple petunias fill in gaps, proving to be a delightful choice for seasonal color.

Celebrating Garden Design

As the month progresses, I reflect on the journey of my garden design over the years. Next week marks a special anniversary, prompting a full garden tour video. This will highlight the transformations and successes achieved throughout the seasons. Observing the results of my design students will also be a rewarding experience.

Market reference to watch
